THETA-Uganda is a not-for-profit Ugandan Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and company limited by guarantee. The Organization
was founded as a research project in 1992 and registered as an NGO in 1995. THETA's core mandate is to improve health and access
to health care through promotion of collaboration between the traditional and biomedical health care systems. THETA's objectives
are: To promote research in traditional medicine; strengthen capacity for holistic health care; to build models for traditional
and conventional medicine integration; and to empower communities to take charge of their health.
Since inception THETA has had operations in over fourty with its programmes implemented in all regions of Uganda. The geographical
coverage has however been influenced by the availability of resources for its programmes. THETA currently operates in fifteen
districts. THETA's work is implemented in partnership with the district local governments and in collaboration with other civil
